Executive Committee:

Ms Linnet Nyamweya– is a Scientist at the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NuPEA) in the Energy Research and Development Directorate. She is actively involved in nuclear research and development (R&D) and the implementation of the Kenya Nuclear Research Reactor (KNRR) project. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a Master of Science in Nuclear Science from the University of Nairobi. She is also a Certified Nuclear Security Professional (CNSP) by the World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS) and has earned additional relevant certifications from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). As an active member of KYGN, the Nuclear Society of Kenya, and Women in Nuclear-Kenya, she is passionate about mentorship and STEM outreach. Guided by her motto: Integrity, Transparency, and Innovation, she is committed to shaping the future of nuclear science.

Mr  Raphael Omollo Makora – is a passionate Radiographer and a nuclear science and technology advocate dedicated to advancing affordable and accessible healthcare as well as promoting peaceful applications of nuclear technology in Kenya. He is an active member of KYGN, where he previously served as the Information Officer and is currently serving as Vice President, where he drives youth engagement and public awareness in the nuclear sector. Beyond KYGN, he is the national representative of Kenya at the IYNC BoD. With a strong background in medical imaging, Raphael has actively contributed to various KYGN initiatives, including mentorship programs, public advocacy, and international collaborations. He has represented KYGN at global nuclear forums, fostering partnerships and advocating for capacity building among young professionals. He holds a Bachelor of Radiography from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

Ms Ruth Achieng – is an engineer at the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency with a background in Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Nuclear Science and Technology. With five years in the energy sector, she is passionate about advancing clean, sustainable nuclear energy. Her expertise includes nuclear power plant design, nuclear supply chain studies, reactor technology assessments, project management, and emergency planning. Ruth is also a founding member of the Nuclear Society of Kenya, leading recruitment and communication efforts, and an active member of Women in Nuclear (WiN) Kenya. As Executive Secretary of KYGN, she aims to provide practical experience, access to resources, and global connections for its members. Her vision for KYGN is simple: Empower, Innovate, and  Inspire!

Ms Loise Mbae is a research scientist with an MSc in Nuclear Science and a BSc in Geology, leveraging both to work in solving environmental challenges. She has been driven by a passion for scientific innovation, creating sustainable solutions in the energy sector. As Treasurer of KYGN, she is committed to ensuring financial sustainability, strategic resource management, and supporting initiatives that empower young professionals in nuclear science. She looks forward to contributing to KYGN’s mission of fostering knowledge, collaboration, and growth in the industry.

Ms Andreann Ndebu – is a prominent education ambassador and climate activist with extensive experience in nuclear energy and international diplomacy. She has led impactful initiatives, including co-authoring key international declarations and founding educational support projects for children and young girls.
 Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Development Studies, Andreann is committed to global sustainability and community development.
 In recognition of her contributions to the energy sector, in 2024 she received an award from the African Queen of Energy Awards, celebrating her work in advancing energy initiatives.

Mr Ian Muriu is a digital marketing and communications strategist with extensive experience in content creation, strategic planning, and digital advocacy. Passionate about storytelling, audience engagement, and brand visibility, he has successfully led impactful campaigns that drive awareness and inspire action. Ian excels at simplifying complex topics, building strong audience relationships, and leveraging digital platforms to amplify key messages. A firm believer in the power of communication to shape perceptions and influence change, he is committed to enhancing public engagement, fostering meaningful dialogue, and positioning organizations as thought leaders in their fields.

Mr Joe Mwangi– is a Principal Scientist at Kenya’s Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NuPEA) and the Professional Development Officer at Kenya Young Generation in Nuclear (KYGN). He specialises in nuclear fuel management, material flow analysis, and radioactive waste management. With over 10 years of experience, he has been instrumental in policy development, reactor technology evaluation, and workforce planning for Kenya’s nuclear sector. He holds a Master’s in Nuclear Power Plant Engineering from KEPCO International Nuclear Graduate School and a BSc in Industrial Chemistry from JKUAT, with certifications from Texas A&M University and the IAEA. He is a member of the Nuclear Society of Kenya, EAARP, and Kenya Chemical Society, advocating for nuclear science and capacity building.

Advisory Committee:

He holds a PhD in Physics, an MSc. in Nuclear Science and a BSc. in Physics from the University of Nairobi. He is currently the Chief Science Secretary at National Commission of Science, Innovation and Technology. He was Secretary (Nuclear) in the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (2011-2013), served as the Chief Science Secretary at the National Council of Science and Technology (2007-2011). From 1999-2006, he served as a Nuclear Safeguards Inspector at the International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna, Austria. He also served as a Senior Radiation Protection Officer at the Radiation Protection Board (1988-1998). His impressive portfolio of awards includes Nobel Price for peace for the year 2005 as IAEA SG staff shared with the IAEA Director General Dr. M. Albaradei, and the Kenya National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation award in 2013 in recognition of research contributions on both national and international levels to Research and Development in Radiation Protection Dosimetry.

is CEO of INBEx (Institute for Nuclear Business Excellence), and has previously been professor of nuclear physics at Uppsala University, Director of the Swedish Nuclear Technology Centre and Head of nuclear competence at Vattenfall.
