Executive Committee:

Mr Raphael Chebosion Chesori – Raphael is International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ph.D. Fellow at the Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology, Warsaw, Poland. He holds an M.Sc. (Eng.) Nuclear Science and B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry from The University of Nairobi. He is an alumnus of World Nuclear University Summer Institute (2011), Oxford UK and the ICTP- IAEA School of Nuclear Knowledge Management (2010), Trieste Italy. Raphael is a starter and exhibit pragmatic leadership spanning over a decade both in academic and community development arena. He currently works as a Tutorial Fellow at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT) and serving as a volunteer youth leader in the young generation networks (YGNs) both at the national, regional and international level. He is the president for the Kenyan YGN and the Secretary General, African Young Generation in Nuclear (AYGN). He also serves as a National Representative (NR) Chair for the YGNs & Grants Committee at the International Youth in Nuclear (IYNC) and part of the policy advocacy team at the British American Security Information Council’s Emerging Voices Network (BASIC – EVN). Raphael has tremendous interests in promoting the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology as a means to addressing the most pressing challenges both locally and globally. He is part of the JKUAT’s faculty at the College of Health Sciences, promoting radioisotopes in medicine and Radiation Therapy Technologies (RTTs).

Ms. Sharon Kanana – is a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research hospital (KUTRRH) with an interest in early cancer diagnosis, treatment and research. She obtained a Bachelor of Radiography degree at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. She is a nuclear technology enthusiast who participated in the 5th “Atoms for Africa” Nuclear Technology online video competition with an aim to create public awareness on how nuclear technologies can help in achievement of the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs) in Africa. Ms. Sharon is also a member of Women in Nuclear (WIN) Africa, Women In Science Without Borders Initiative (WISWB) and serves in the African Young Generation in Nuclear (AYGN) Communication Committee. It is her dream to see young nuclear professionals scale up their careers by leveraging on opportunities offered by Kenyan Young Generation in Nuclear (KYGN) and other partner organizations.

Stephen Tollah Owuor – is the founding and current Ex. secretary of KYGN. He holds a BSc. (Physics) and a MSc. Nuclear Science both from The University of Nairobi. He has been actively involved in international activities related to nuclear through the AYGN and IYNC forums among them; EPS conference on Physics for Development held in Brussels, Belgium in 2012 where he did a poster presentation on “Nuclear electricity and capacity development: Kenyan option for energy sustainability and economic development.”. He has also served as a Member At Large (MAL) to the International Youth Nuclear Congress. He currently works as part time lecturer at different universities in Kenya.

COLLINS KIPLANGAT KORI– Bsc Radiography JKUAT Current financial controller and economic planner –KYGN. Has a vast knowledge in financial management He is currently working as the resident radiographer at the Radiology department in Nairobi west hospital He is a nuclear enthusiast and promotes the peaceful application of nuclear in Kenya.

BEN BRUCE KERONGO – Bruce is an enthusiastic learner and creative thinker who loves the youth and believes in their innate ability to make the world a better place. A student taking a Bachelor of Radiography degree at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), the director KYGN-JKUAT Chapter and sitting chairperson, KYGN-PR Committee. A strategic leader, with great organizational skills and a knack for design thinking, always looking out for opportunities to make a difference and add value. He has spearheaded a number of initiatives such as the High School Mentorship Program conducted by the KYGN-JKUAT Chapter in 2019. He has a passion for youth empowerment and development, to accentuate their participation and growth both economically and in their career aspirations. He’s an MCN (Millennium Campus Network) Fellow 2020 and ardent supporter of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, his favorite being No. 1: No Poverty.

Raphael Omollo Makora – Raphael Makora is the current Head of Radiology department and Resident Radiographer/sonographer at The Kitengela Medical Services-Kajiado. He is holds an undergraduate degree in Radiography from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He is passionate about early cancer detection and management especially through the use of modern technologies such as Nuclear Science and Technology,specifically Nuclear Medicine. He has a passion for human health and about the use of modern medicine for diagnosis and treatment of diseases. He is very enthusiastic and passionate about clean and affordable energy and supports the Kenyas plan of establishing the Nuclear power plants. He attended the first inaugural African youth Nuclear Summit at the KICC,Narobi in March 2017. He is also a member of African Youth Nuclear-Network(AYGN) and serves in the Events Organizing Committtee.

Advisory Committee:

He holds a PhD in Physics, an MSc. in Nuclear Science and a BSc. in Physics from the University of Nairobi. He is currently the Chief Science Secretary at National Commission of Science, Innovation and Technology. He was Secretary (Nuclear) in the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (2011-2013), served as the Chief Science Secretary at the National Council of Science and Technology (2007-2011). From 1999-2006, he served as a Nuclear Safeguards Inspector at the International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna, Austria. He also served as a Senior Radiation Protection Officer at the Radiation Protection Board (1988-1998). His impressive portfolio of awards includes Nobel Price for peace for the year 2005 as IAEA SG staff shared with the IAEA Director General Dr. M. Albaradei, and the Kenya National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation award in 2013 in recognition of research contributions on both national and international levels to Research and Development in Radiation Protection Dosimetry.
